Alright, some update to Kubuntu Intrepid fixed this somewhat, but not entirely.
Whereas the roads used to break up as the image overlays do, now the roads are solid at all times. I have two new problems though: 1- Only certain letters/numbers appear. For example, the coordinates at the bottom left of the screen, only 9's show up. I'll attach a picture. 2- Google Earth freezes upon attempting to utilize an image overlay.
