This $0.02 from a non-developer who tries to stay out of religious quarrels:

we all have a list of bugs which leave us dumbfounded that they have received
no attention. My two favourites (all well represented on Launchpad) are:
1. strange circumstance had me installing a completely new 64-bit Kubuntu Lucid
beta install the day after the beta was released; so clean that I had to create
a brand-new home directory for the principal user (hint: I had suffered a
recent catastrophic crash of the disk containing my (well backed-up) home
directory). The 64bit KDE beta loads to a pure white screen with no trace that
there is any running WM or DE. All one can do is back out to a virtual console
(Ctl-Alt-[1-6]. I, for one, don't care for GNOME; thank God for LXDE. I have
filed, IIRC, three distinct but related Launchpad bugs on this problem;
2. OpenOffice.org 3.2 sends certain print jobs to a /dev/null bit bucket and
not to the printer. I am still trying to figure out what causes the phenomenon.
It seems to involve documents which started life in another format. One weird
example involves a document which started out as a .txt file. I have even had
files which started life as .doc files, went through a full-scale "translation
environment" (Wikipedia is your friend here) and which I subsequently
reassembled in OOo. What can I do about the problem? Thank God I own a copy of
Softmaker. By the way, I am a late-in-life student of translation and just
received a tuition scholarship for having done well so far. I can't wait around
forever to see if OOo gets fixed. I need to turn in work, and if Textmaker
makes that possible, FOSS purity has to give way. Also reported on Launchpad.

Just curious,
Peter.
