Please don't change the Status unless you know what you are doing.
Any update on this? The bug watch points to nothing now, maybe a website change 
or something, but I searched and couldn't find the reported upstream bug report.

Bug description:

The Eee PC has non-working wireless out of the box. A patch is available from 
the madwifi website:

I'd like to have working wireless in hardy, without having to patch/compile 
manually :)
