Hi Matthew, > > What are your thoughts with this? Do we really need to keep this > > private? I haven't seen anything in the last year that requires it.
So I read back through the archive and did find one item, my google docs invite allowing the editors to edit the Fridge v2 page. However, I could have done this differently so I'm not really fussed about it. > I don't think so - I think what we had agreed was that the previous > archives of the list would have to be private but that when we move to > a new list (news-team or whatever) this could (and should) be public. Ok. My personal viewpoint is that we're an public service to the Ubuntu community who's out put is *very* public. I very much like to expose what we do and how we do it. > > I'm not yet clear on the interaction between the > [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] - fridge-devel = old, private, hosted at lists.ubuntu.com, manual maintenance. ubuntu-fridge = new, public, hosted at lists.launchpad.net, membership is based on the launchpad team See this page for an overview of the benefits to using Launchpad's service. https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp > Joey can you clarify some of the following points: > > * Does any mail sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] also appear on > the launchpad list? no. They are completely separate lists. > * Do all members of the ubuntu-fridge team receive mails sent to the > launchpad list? Yes if they subscribe. Subscription is limited to those in the team. Subscription allows you to post and receive. Non-members can read the archives on http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ for example. > * Which are we supposed to use? fridge-devel = the old and current list. We should continue to use this for all communications because not everyone is subscribed to the other list. ubuntu-fridge = the new proposed list that I would like us to move to after mailing lists come out of beta. I've been cross-posting to both so that everyone (who has chosen to participate) can see and understand how the new structure will operate. > * Which are people wishing to contact the fridge supposed to use? fridge-devel. One of the irc topics was to move forward on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuNews > * What is the intended relationship between the launchpad list and the > news-team list which was supposed to supercede this? Ultimately we need two lists: 1) one for normal team communications, 2) one for news submissions shared with other groups like UWN fridge-devel is being used for #1 and cannot be changed without sacrificing privacy to do #2. ubuntu-fridge is mean to take over #1 (and thereby sunset fridge-devel). We still need a list (or submission mechanism) to satisfy #2 >From an implementation stand-point, we want to use ubuntu-fridge because that is what will be used to provide our access to the Fridge (I have someone working on the module right now in fact). We can't use ubuntu-news because that would give everyone access to the Fridge. What we can do, is make the fridge team (ubuntu-fridge) a member of https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-news and make ubuntu-news public. This would allow everyone on the fridge team to subscribe to the ubuntu-news public list while having fridge specific conversations on the fridge list. Plus, as per the original idea, anyone can join ubuntu-news and hold various discussions there, submit news if they are subscribed, etc. > Sorry for all the questions but I'm just a bit unsure of how the LP > system works. It's ok, we just released it into official beta yesterday. :-) _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-fridge Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/people/+me/+editemails More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
