How about if we enhanced the "default applications" pane in system settings, to handle installing common alternatives.

For example the 'web' dropdown would show firefox and chromium (perhaps greyed out to indicate they are not installed) and clicking on them would install the required packages.

The ubiquity devs don't seem to want flavour specific code in ubiquity, so we are kind of limited as to what we can do here.

Kubuntu did ship a Firefox installer launcher for a while. I don't
think that's something we want as I want users to be able to easily
install anything, not just Firefox.

Let's use a different discussion thread if we want to discuss shipping
LibreOffice and reserve this one for web browsers.
