Did set this bug to "confirmed" since I made the bug report out of a
question from answers.launchpad.net that was written by somebody who did
encounter this problem, too.

Hello, there!
The xnec2c is trying to provide its own start menu entry by poviding the file
/usr/share/menu/xnec2c.
Unfortunately this approach seems to file. Please provide a .desktop file in
/usr/share/applications instead.
