Impact: This package is exclusively for ham radio use -- it has no impact on the overall distribution. Rationale: Hamlib is the primary radio control library used by most ham radio applications which offer radio control. Ham users will appreciate having the latest hamlib in Maverick. Testing: I tested this version of hamlib and had no problems whatsoever.
