Thanks for reporting this bug.  I'd like to help get it resolved.  Could you 
please advise:
1. Does the problem still occur using the current released versions (Ubuntu 
10.10 with fldigi 3.20.23-1).
2. What about this even newer version of fldigi (3.20.32-1)?:

3. If the problem does still occur, please describe just how you're using 
fldigi...  Are you using rig control?  What rig?  (And does the problem still 
happen if you disable rig control?)  Does the problem only happen with some 
digital modes (PSK31? RTTY?).

Title:
  High CPU usage with fldigi and external USB sound card device (SignaLink USB)

Status in “fldigi” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: fldigi

I have tested the above with 2 builds of Ubuntu 9.10 and 2 builds of Ubuntu 
9.04.
The problem does not occur with 9.04.
The CPU usage will be in the 90-90 percent range on 9.10 and around 15 percent 
on 9.04.
