I am not so sure of this, but the ubuntu distro name also comes in the deb line ! It could be like file:///media/disk/ubuntu7_10/dvd710_!/ubuntu gutsy main multiverse universe > > then did the atp-get update and the following are the results > > > top:~$ sudo apt-get update > Password: > Ign file: main Release.gpg > Ign file: main/multiverse Translation-en_IN > Ign file: main/universe Translation-en_IN > Ign file: main Release > Ign file: main/multiverse Packages > Ign file: main/universe Packages > Err file: main/multiverse Packages > File not found > Err file: main/universe Packages > File not found > Failed to fetch > file:///media/disk/ubuntu7_10/dvd710_1/ubuntu/dists/main/multiverse/binary-i386/Packages.gz > File not found > Failed to fetch > file:///media/disk/ubuntu7_10/dvd710_1/ubuntu/dists/main/universe/binary-i386/Packages.gz > File not found > Reading package lists... Done This like can help ! Check if such a file like file:///media/disk/ubuntu7_10/dvd710_1/ubuntu/dists/main/universe/binary-i386/Packages.gz exists ! Try altering the deb line so that this file is actually being pointed to ! Hope this solves your problem :) -- ~suren There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't
