Yes it worked with 7.04 and 7.10 but not with 8.04 or 8.10. So if the phones don't have their own drivers where does it get uploaded from - was thinking that this is kind of built into the kernal. Strangely this device works on PCLinuxOS with kernal > > Can you do the following... Subsequent to your mail did the following (on Ubuntu 9.04) ~$ cat /proc/bus/usb/ > /tmp/usb-before cat: /proc/bus/usb/: Is a directory Seems like there is nothing in the above directory as seen below $ ls /proc/bus/usb/ ~$ (returned a blank) so am posting the output of dmesg - as follows $ dmesg > /tmp/usb-before_dmesg $ dmesg > /tmp/usb-after_dmesg $ diff /tmp/usb-before /tmp/usb-after_dmesg > /home/ram/Desktop/diff_dmesg.txt This last output is selectively copied and pasted below is with ref to the device ( am not sure if you want the whole dmesg) > [ 230.392069] usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2 > [ 230.583651] usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice > [ 230.710421] USB Serial support registered for TI USB 3410 1 port adapter > [ 230.710448] USB Serial support registered for TI USB 5052 2 port adapter > [ 230.710486] ti_usb_3410_5052 2-2:1.0: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter > detected > [ 230.710496] usb 2-2: firmware: requesting ti_usb-v0451-p3410.fw > [ 230.717968] usb 2-2: firmware: requesting ti_3410.fw > [ 231.344074] usb 2-2: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and > address 2 > [ 231.544143] usb 2-2: device firmware changed > [ 231.544174] ti_usb_3410_5052: probe of 2-2:1.0 failed with error -5 > [ 231.544213] usbcore: registered new interface driver ti_usb_3410_5052 > [ 231.544218] ti_usb_3410_5052: v0.9:TI USB 3410/5052 Serial Driver > [ 231.544405] usb 2-2: USB disconnect, address 2 > [ 231.660105] usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3 > [ 231.879285] usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 2 choices > [ 231.881218] ti_usb_3410_5052 2-2:1.0: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter > detected > [ 231.881237] ti_usb_3410_5052: probe of 2-2:1.0 failed with error -5 > [ 231.883204] ti_usb_3410_5052 2-2:2.0: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter > detected > [ 231.883299] usb 2-2: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter now attached to > ttyUSB0 ** if you want the whole dmesg let me know will post it as an attachement so what seems to be the issue here. would appreciate help Thanks ram -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
