Also try this,
Boot from a live CD and go to partition editor. Turn the windows drive active.

Or else if you can do ths, install a pirated windows on a new small
(say 5 GB Partition) go to disk management by right clicking My
Computer, click the inactive partion and make it active.

Then boot into existing ubuntu, and delete the new partiton and join
it with any existing partition.

The second method is a bit long, but should do the trick. For the
first method, I don't know if the ubuntu partition manager would be
able to activate the drive and how to do that. But for second will
definitely activate your drive.

What I suggest is this:
First try the first method and if for some reason you are not able to
do it then try the second method.
