I looked into why ubuntu-manual.org wasn't appearing in the Google results. It turns out that our site was hacked a while back and the hackers included some links at the bottom of the site's HTML pages. These links were only present in the HTML pages served to web crawlers (like Googlebot) and not to browsers (like FireFox or Chromium). Google detected this and removed out site from their search results. I've removed the hacked files and will continue to investigate the methods used to hack the site. In the meantime, I've requested that Google reinstate our site in their search results. It may take some time for them to do so. We should look into updating our site to use a more standard framework (if possible) to help alleviate security problems in the future (as much as is ever possible). If any web developers are interested in taking on such a project, let me know and I'll be glad to help you out with the site design and explain some of our needs. --Kevin _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-manual Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-manual More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
