Usually that doesn't work in these cases because you can make the window 
disappear outside your desktop but not the top of it which is what matters here.
I have an Acer Aspire One with 1024x600. Of course I needed to do this 
workaround very few times but in those few times often it didn't work.

One thing you might try, is to hold the <alt> key then left-click and
hold somewhere in the window.  In some cases, this will allow you to
move the window around to a better location.
