I am going to take a wild guess here. I wonder if this is intel graphics
related.
You didn't mention if the cd ran fine in live mode or if you had successfully
installed other versions of Ubuntu with this hardware

Hardware: Dell Optiplex 260, Hauppauge PVR 250, using onboard video for
monitor during install
Media: Mythbuntu 12.04, i386, md5sum confirmed
When I attempted to boot from CD for install, the install process hung. I
repeated the boot while watching the console messages. The install stops
after a message that says "Stopping kernel save messages [OK]". How can I
proceed past this point?
