Two packages that have become indispensible to me wrt
Linux multimedia are lxdvdrip and DeVeDe. Both of
these have been packaged for/by marillat but are
currently missing from the ubuntu repositories and
don't seem to be part of ubuntu-plf atm either. I
would very much like to see these uploaded to
ubuntu-plf.

I haven't seen another tool for Linux that makes
avi/movie file -> DVD as easy as DeVeDe makes it- and
WORK too! :) However, I know that there is xdvdshrink
which does a similiar thing to lxdvdrip but I've not
tried that. lxdvdrip has worked perfectly for me but
k9copy didn't quite work last time I tried it. Has
anybody here tried both lxdvdrip and xdvdshrink- which
one is the best?

Thanks,

dan
