I am trying to bring up a Ryzen system. It will come up for about a day and crash. A very hard crash. It does repsond to even a reset. I must power cycle the system.
I've read through the bug report page, and the system is so dead nothing works. I installed Win 10 on the same system and it works fine. I installed ubuntu server 17.04 on the system and everything works fine. I ran the system with the monitor turned off for two weeks everything works fine. I ran the system with a text console selected, everything worked fine. If I run with a GUI (kubuntu) the system dies within a 3.5 day period, ususally after about 1 day. I ran with Nividia cards and drivers, AMD video card and drivers, The Nvidia propiratary driver and Nvidia Nouvea, open source driver. Anytime the video is operational, the system crashes. I tried two mother boards, Asus and MSI. both acted the same, I changed the MB and cpu to an intel i7, everything has worked fine. IMHO: It has some thing to do with X. Let me know if there is anything I set in the logging or what ever to capture any information you may need to help resolve this issue. It would be really nice to use the new family of AMD chips, but it would be even nicer if the systems would run for a while. Please let me know what I can do to help resolve this problem. thanks Jeffrey -- Ubuntu-quality mailing list Ubuntu-quality@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-quality
