This is a UX decision to support keyboard navigation, we'll need to work around it. I've filed bug #1528198 to track the need for a Combo box component.

Using 1.3.1778+15.04.20151217.1-0ubuntu1 that just landed in stable- phone-overlay PPA the TextFeild doesn't have focus anymore. It seems like a regression to me. Or was this done on purpose?
