Sorry for the spamminess of my posting, but I discovered that the problem wasn't fixed.
Apparently, the upgrade obliterated my old /etc/samba/smb.conf file. When I restored the smb.conf file from backup, my settings were back, including my Windows network as well as my shared printer. So this is a bug in the upgrade that overwrites the smb.conf file. I'm reopening the bug. -glass.dimly ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- Automatic upgrade in Ubuntu Hardy breaks Samba - 9-13-08 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/271115 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
