Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

Hello,

Modified my smb.conf last night to allow guest access. I then restarted
samba and all worked well. Now this morning when I turned it on sabma
has not started. When i run 'restart' it says it is ok, btu then it is
not running:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart
 * Stopping Samba daemons                                                [ OK ]
 * Starting Samba daemons                                                [ OK ]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/samba reload
 * Reloading /etc/samba/smb.conf smbd only
No process in pidfile `/var/run/samba/smbd.pid' found running; none killed.
                                                                         [ OK ]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

As you can see, if I try to reload straight after, it states samba is
not running. Also if I just try to access it (not reloading) I cannot
connect.

smb.conf attached.

Thanks
