Re this bug i just filed I just found a debian package that I was able to forceinstall and its working as expected from the jessie repo

I tried getting the latest mcrypt version from the debian sid repo but its for php 5.5.4 and the ubuntu php version is 5.5.3 http://packages.debian.org/sid/php5-mcrypt any idea on when you'll get a compatible version into the ubuntu repos for 13.10?
