You have been subscribed to a public bug: I installed Ubuntu 8.10, then did the updates suggested by Update Manager. I chose Places / Connect to Server... and connected to a Windows share on a Windows XP Home computer on the local lan. An icon appeared on the desktop. I opened the icon and selected all the folders. The share has (according to Nautilus) 5340 files. I chose Places / Home Folder, created a new folder in my home folder, and double-clicked to enter the folder. I manipulated the window sizes until I was able to drag all the folders from the Windows share and drop them on the new folder in my home folder.
After many files and folders had been copied, an error occurred. Unfortunately, I was making notes on my Windows computer. The copy operation continued. Then a while later, my Windows computer rebooted (and there went my notes). 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu. rbo...@dolphin:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy packagename' or by checking in Synaptic. rbo...@dolphin:~$ apt-cache policy packagename W: Unable to locate package packagename rbo...@dolphin:~$ 3) What you expected to happen Well, um, I did Not expect Windows to crash (although...) 4) What happened instead Uh, Windows crashed. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Samba crashes Windows XP Home https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/347098 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
