My laptop is also affected (Acer e3-111). When I resume from sleep (S3),
my Xorg.0.log says:

Ugly workaround for this is to reload the hid_multitouch after resuming:

# sudo rmmod hid_multitouch
# sudo modprobe hid_multitouch
