sooo... i managed to install samba now. i presume you did the same thing as me, uninstalled samba and deleted /etc/samba.
the installer just presumes that this directory (or even the config file in it, i don't know) exists and fails when it doesn't. please try the following (fixed it for me): sudo mkdir /etc/samba sudo cp /usr/share/samba/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf then install samba normally. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1556270 Title: package samba-libs 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 Edit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1556270/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
