Well basically on newer kernels the `ip route list` format seems to include these two additional columns (presumably indicating 100Mbit/1Gbit ethernet speeds?) where it previously had none (i.e., now shows 7 columns instead of 5)
the most immediate fix is to change the $NF to a $5 to maintain backwards compatibility whilst also picking out the right interface in this new form.
