Chuck, Thanks for the quick response. This was entirely my fault. I thought I remembered, in the past when I've upgraded Samba, that the upgrade process wanted to write a new smb.conf file. So this time, I decided to pre-emptively rename smb.conf so that it wouldn't be overwritten. What I should have done is save a copy of it, not rename it. I fixed my error and applied your suggested dpkg command and the configuration successfully completed. Normally I wouldn't have filed a bug report, but the automated process led me through it and ... You know the rest. Thanks again and sorry to "bug" you (pun intended). --John -- package samba-common 2:3.3.2-1ubuntu3.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/440692 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
