Well, myself I do manage to do run php pages on Lucid, with apache2
2.2.14-5ubuntu2 as well as 5.3.1-5ubuntu1.

Are you actively serving php pages when Apache crashes, or is it enough
to have the php5 module loaded? If you are serving PHP, do you think you
can provide a piece of PHP which triggers the crash?
