It "fails in the way that it creates a (virtual) machine that is useless
because the hostname is invalid.

Example: creating a vm with 'sudo vmbuilder kvm ubuntu
--libvirt=qemu:///system --mirror=http://dk.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu
--hostname ubu_test'

During boot I see (using virt-viewer):
"hostname: the specified hostname is invalid"

There are also many network utilities/applications that does not work
either.
