Thanks. That was indeed very helpful and I am now much further forward,
although I still ended up going round the same circle including the same
"no UPnP" message when I run mythtv backend setup.
Having performed the tweak advised in bug #556204 of editing and saving
/etc/init/mythtv-backend.conf file with an addition to the dependent
conditions of "and started udev-finish", my mythtvbackend.log now
appears as follows:
