Same issue, also on Intel machine with 32-bit Meerkat host and Meerkat guest.
Installation with 32-bit Ubuntu 10.10 iso worked just fine, but after the VM reboot, the guest machine displays the Grub menu (and stays there, does not seem to time-out as expected) while CPU of the host goes to 100%. Selecting the first item on the menu does not boot the VM: virt-manager just displays a black screen (I've tried to boot the VM with options like vga=771, nosplash etc, removed "quiet", different driver) but nothing seems to work.
