Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: irqbalance

Preface: I am aware that multiple rather unspecific bugs have been filed
against various packages for mouse or keyboard issues somehow linked to
irqbalance. My issue is a bit different in that I do NOT experience
random hangs but can trigger them through specific buttons.

I have a CoolerMaster Storm Sentinel Advance[1] mouse connected via USB.
Unfortunately I do not have a second mouse to test with.
When irqbalance is running, pressing the back or forward buttons (identified in
xev as buttons 8 and 9) sometimes but not always causes the mouse to "hang":
The cursor still reacts to some mouse movements, but moves only in a very small
area (about 5 mm on screen). Button presses on any button but the two mentioned
are still registered correctly, but buttons 8 and 9 do nothing. There are two
ways to solve the issue: Plugging the mouse into another USB port or stopping
the irqbalance service.
When irqbalance is not running, no mouse issues appear. All buttons are fully
usable.

Information as required by the guidelines:

1) Release: 10.10
2) Package version: 0.56-0ubuntu2
3) Expected behaviour:
- Press buttons 8 or 9
- Application does whatever is mapped to buttons 8 or 9
4) What happened:
- Press buttons 8 or 9
- Application does NOT do whatever is mapped to those buttons
- Mouse cursor only moves within a very small area, responds to all buttons
except 8 and 9

Apport data can be provided upon request.
