Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.
Please could you edit /var/lib/dpkg/info/samba-common.postinst and
replace "set -e" (near the top) with "set -ex". Then run "sudo dpkg
--configure --pending", and paste the results? This should show us
exactly which line is causing the problem. Once done, please change the
bug status back to "New". Thanks!
