I have a machine with only a serial console that I'd like to install 6.06.1 i386 server onto. The official CDs don't seem to contemplate this possibility (which seems like an odd oversight, so I may be missing something).
I _thought_ it would be fairly straightforward to build a serial console install CD --- just be a matter of gunzipping the files from a CD image, editing the CD's /etc/inittab and /boot/grub/menu.lst and and the ones it installs, and building a new CD image of the results. I now know this was a based on some naiive assumptions, but haven't found any clues as to how to actually do what I need to. Does anyone know what the right way to go about this would be?
