Hi Jim,

This is past that part, I think.  In the selection menu for partitioning the 
installation disk, it only displays sda5, the flash drive.  There are no other 
drives.

I presume you are pressing F12 for the "Boot once" menu and then selecting USB 
Flash drive in which case the only drive you should see is the USB stick. The 
destination drive will be chosen later.
