Hi, I have emailed the current sooperlooper maintainer in debian, and
he replied with the following:

Updating sooperlooper to the latest version is held back by the rubberband
library, which is not packaged in Debian. I do not have the time to maintain yet
another package, so I decided to leave sooperlooper in the state it is
until the library
is available.

So we need to get someone to package this library for debian, then he
will update it and we can sync them both across.
