Hi, I just mailed this little test.
Any change to get both libffado (rc2) and jackd (166.2) to the PPA for Ubuntu Studio-dev? I just tested RC2 with default kernel - 2.6.24-24-rt - with Ubuntu Studio 8.04 x86_64. Everyhting else is from package management/repositories expect libffado and jackd. 1. stu...@ubuntustudio:~$ uname -a Linux ubuntustudio 2.6.24-24-rt #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Wed Apr 15 16:33:12 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux stu...@ubuntustudio:~$ 2. stu...@ubuntustudio:~$ jackd --version jackd version 0.116.2 tmpdir /dev/shm protocol 24 stu...@ubuntustudio:~$ 3. stu...@ubuntustudio:~$ ffado-test ListDevices ----------------------------------------------- FFADO test and diagnostic utility Part of the FFADO project -- www.ffado.org Version: 1.999.42 (C) 2008, Daniel Wagner, Pieter Palmers This program comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. ----------------------------------------------- === 1394 PORT 0 === Node id GUID VendorId ModelId Vendor - Model 0 0x0090270001c7eedc 0x00009027 0x00000000 Linux - ohci1394 - 1 0x0014860968bc006a 0x00001486 0x00000AF4 Echo Digital Audio - AudioFire4 no message buffer overruns stu...@ubuntustudio:~$ 4. I did my quick test again. Garbage out (Delta 66/VLC) - garbage in (Phantom microphone/AudioFire4/Ardour2). I recorded about 10 minutes, no problems. http://www.arkki.info/howto/Ubuntu_Studio/Testing/Hardy_ffado2rc2_01.png Both devices works very well together. 5. You need this fix for ffado-mixer (to use phantom microphone) when building in Hardy. "FFADO should compile well, but the mixer might not : if you get a message telling that 'pyuic', and python-modules 'dbus' and 'qt' could not be found, here is how you can work around this issue" http://subversion.ffado.org/wiki/Dependencies/Ubuntu 6. After that I did one midi test (midi keyboard) for jackd, no problems. Upgrading manually from source packages did not mess anything. http://www.arkki.info/howto/Ubuntu_Studio/Testing/Hardy_ffado2rc2_03.png ---- @Pieter, what is ypur schedule for libffado, how many RCs before final one etc? It is ready, when it is ready - old fashion way ;-) @Pieter, is there a way activate phantom microphone from cli? @Someone else, there is that "PPA for Ubuntu Studio-dev". Is it possible to get both libffado (rc2) and jackd (116.2) there? Thank you Peter once again, I can now use AudioFire4 everywhere and with both Ubuntu Studios - 8.04/9.04.
