This was the howto I followed way back when (I think):
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=431066 but the Tascam US-122 is NOT
a supported card. This is an unoffiical hack to get things running, and
when they did run for me I had many issues of noisy buzzing after stopping
audio (paused or stopped). Because that method runs windows binary drivers,
it's almost impossible to troubleshoot an issue like buzzing. My advice
would be to purchase a new soundcard, but those instructions should help you
test this one out first. You may also want to phone Tascam help and ask
them how to get the card working in Ubuntu - if/when they say you can't,
then explain you're going to return the card and purchase a soundcard from a
company that supports Linux ;)
