Thank you for directing us to your articles. I did not find the one that compared OSS with ALSA, but I will keep looking. I did find your 2006 article about sound and wine, and will peruse that. I have a particular and narrow-focused interest. I run Dragon NaturallySpeaking under wine. Wine right now is having difficulty running alsa without freezing and only runs in oss-emulation. For wine users, oss may be a good choice, especially for me personally, because DNS/wine is the only sound application I use, and latency and sound quality are of extreme importance.
