IMO Cinelerra is the best app to cut videos, but some people might prefer Kino, that is used by some professional German broadcast. FWIW, for quick editing with low expectations I like Avidemux, wich replaced Kmenc15 for me. An issue for musicians might be compatibility with JACK transport.
