I'm using Ubuntu Studio and Arch Linux with Xfce. On Arch I tried to install Mate, but regarding to it's insane hard dependencies and a conflict with file-roller, I dropped installing it. There's completely no valid reason to make pulseaudio and gvfs hard dependencies and to force the user to drop file-roller. This perhaps isn't an issue for you, but at least risky for users, who want to be able to customize their Linux to their needs. I try not to install software that force me to install something as a hard dependency that should be an optional dependency and a conflict with an often used app IMO is intolerable.
IOW you risk to make your Linux less easy to customize to your needs, if you install Mate. Regards, Ralf -- ubuntu-studio-users mailing list ubuntu-studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users
