I never have a separate boot partition that is less then 1024M (1G) for this very reason. If you can't spare an extra 1G, then you probably shouldn't be running Ubuntu Studio since it requires, at minimum, 16GB, and that's just for the installation. To do anything productive you should have at least 512GB total.
