I'd love to help but currently I don't have much time...maybe in the future?

I think it will be better to just integrate it in the music app? unless it
will have lots of podcast-specific functionality then it will make sense to
make a separate app. Like for example making it an Audio and Video podcast app
and maybe capability of downloading from multiple online sources ;)

I know the Canonical Design Team have had podcast app on their
wishlist for some time. I don't think they have resource to design it
yet, but may do in the new year, subject to other things on their
list. You may want to get in contact with John Lea and make sure
there's not duplication of work going on.
