It's not a translation mistake. The current translation from 2008-12-02
in Launchpad reads "Mathematischer WYSIWYG-Texteditor mit TeX-
Schriften". I can see the wrong translation in Ubuntu Software-Center
though. Maybe the translation has been fixed and the package
descriptions haven't been updated since then? Anybody seeing this in
Oneiric?

  german package description of texmacs in software-center is wrong

Status in Ubuntu Translations:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  In the ubuntu software center (Natty Narwhal) , the package description of 
the package texmacs says "Ein [...] Taschenrechner [...] ", although it should 
say "Ein [...] [Text]Editor [...] ".
  The long text by the way is only in english.
