Hallo fellow translation coordinators As you may have noticed, Jono Bacon is working on something that he calls the Ubuntu accomplishment system. This is designed to be a way for (new?) contributors to get little trophies when they make some sort of contribution to Ubuntu. You can read/see video about the project and the idea at Jono's blog[1] latest blog about this is[2].
While obviously a lot of people contribute without getting these kinds of symbolic awards, I still thing it is a funny idea, especially because it also helps people to discover the ways in which they can distribute. I think we should try and make sure that translations has first class support in this system right from the start. Jono has already asked for help for coding the program and for creating new accomplishments, so I think we should start out with an idea session where we discuss what accomplishments we could have. These accomplishments need to be conformable on launchpad, but I don't think we need to worry about that now. Suggested accomplisments: * Make a translation suggestion * Have a translation suggestion approved * Approve a translation suggestion Maybe also differentiate for documentation translations * Make a documentation translation suggestion * Have a documentation translation suggestion approved * Approve a documentation translation suggestion I think that all of these three/six could (and should) have levels attached to them, depending on the number, if that is ok by the idea of the system. So we make different accomplishments for 1 (beginner), 100 (intermediate), 1000 (advanced) and 10000 (translations hero (or something to that effect)). Besides those we could also think about: * File a l10n or i18n related bug * Triage a l10n or i18n related bug * Fix a l10n or i18n related bug (we can probably piggyback the general bugs accomplishments for that) and depending on whether these accomplishments should be achievable by everyone * Form a translations team * Coordinate/head a translations team (for 6 or 12 months) What do you guys thinks, other suggestions?
