I agree with #1 - let's make this opt-in for individual translators rather than sending them to the lists. The default teams have a huge amount of packages assigned to them, so it would be too noisy.
What I'd personally like would be an additional autosubscribe option - any time I contribute a new translation, I am subscribed to the template.
