Not wishing to prolong this thread please read what has already been
written by myself and many others on [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
what is available to read here. Unfortunately, Alan can't help me and I
don't think Mark Shuttleworth can help me either. The problem appears to
be deep rooted in the current kernel and is unlikely to be corrected
before the next edition of Ubuntu. The net result is for me either to
buy a new scanner, which is needed for work and which does work, or to
downgrade to 6.10. Of these I would rather buy a new scanner.
