I never thought about it to be honest. The box I'm building works as a
captive portal controller. I documented how to set it up here
http://justuber.com/publicwifi:installation_of_the_wifidog_captive_portal

The software usually installs on a access point rather than a PC. Do
you reckon anyone else would use it? I'd have a go if I thought it was
worth it.
