Hi Andy - I get decent performance by installing the appropriate codecs (ubuntu-restricted-extras) and then mplayer and it's firefox plugin (mozilla-mplayer *I think*). I can then watch BBC News 24 clips, stream BBC radio without the need to install RealPlayer :)
There are several other methods for achieving what you want, which I'm sure people will provide, but I like this method because there's no need for additional proprietary blobs of code - everything you need is in the ubuntu repositories Pete On 2/5/08, Andy Watts <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi Guys > > Just started using Ubuntu and could do with some advice please. > > What player would be best when trying to view the video clips under > Firefox ? l guess there are alternatives to Realplayer .. > > Many thanks, > Andy - Salisbury > > -- > ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com > https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk > https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/ > -- 'In letters of gold, on a snow-white kite, I will write "I Love You!"
