Mameox is Mame specific, it's an XBOX .xbe executable. You could run it off a DVD, you'd just need to make an XBOX ISO image (instructions are available on the internet). You could however run Linux on the XBOX and run Mame on that (and compile something like SDLMAME). Not tried it myself though. Linux isn't working on my XBOX since I upgraded the telly and started using Component Video.
