There are known problems with the driver for this card. See bug #134660
on launchpad.

If you ru iwconfig in a terminal you may find the speed of your
interface is set to 1M. You can set this manually to 54M (or whatever)
using:

        iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M

I still go my connection dropping out occasionally with this, so I
download the tar ball from the serialmonkey WEB site and compiled it up.
