I've got daily checks for updates enabled but I noticed today that I hadn't seen the icon for quite a while. When I did a manual check there were 28 waiting. I also noticed that the icon didn't display while I was running those updates.
My settings are: important security updates (intrepid) recommended updates check for updates daily only notify about updates Is there somewhere else I could have turned off the update notification by accident?
